It's so hard to be patient. And for children, it's especially hard: to wait for vacation, to wait for Christmas...there are so many times a child has to be patient. This book explores the concept of patience for children and helps them understand that 'When I am patient I usually find that everything happens in its own perfect time'.
Billionaires and Bagmen offers a surprising solution to the question many people are asking: How can we take our lives back from an over-reaching government, Wall Street power brokers, lobbyist-written laws, the billionaires who buy them off and candidates we don’t like? Sean Cogan, is funny, prickly, charismatic economist turned venture capitalist, comes up with the idea that his town should simply ignore Big Brother's rules and write its own.
He is convinced that the government is no longer “of, by and for the people,” that the President and all three branches of government are bought, paid for, and held in the grip of powerful billionaires, corrupt multinational corporations and their bagmen: the politicians and lobbyists who carry out their agendas. From a savvy newspaper reporter to a secretive former CIA agent who knows how the game is played to the idiot alcoholic mayor of the town who tries to sabotage the initiative, events start to spin out of control.
Things go from bad to worse when the powers that be in Washington become concerned that this independence movement could take on a life of its own. Cogan and his team of supporters, old high school friends, plow ahead in spite of the collusion of spies, lobbyists, a controversial talk show host and a whole boatload of other unsavory characters. It’s an exciting, scary and dangerous ride.
In 2001, the Advisory determined that we really wanted an anthology of delightful poems suitable for year 1 students (not as a replacement for the irreplaceable Milne or Robert Louis Stevenson, but an addition). In 2001, the oldest Advisory 'child' was 18, and there were several teen-agers besides her, all reared on CM's methods, including a diet rich in poetry. In my (Wendi's) family, we owned over 300 volumes of poetry. I asked each of my children who could write to go make me a list of favourite poems from their younger childhood days. Those who couldn't write yet could just tell me. Their lists were similar, in some cases, identical.
Not in length, of course. The 18 year old included far more on her list than the 3 year old was able to tell me about, but both of them mentioned Wynken, Blynken, and Nod and When Young Melissa Sweeps the Floor, for example. I made my own list as well, and other Advisory moms and children created theirs in their own way. My children wanted to know what Auntie Lynn's and Auntie Donna-Jean's children had chosen. There were delighted squeals of recognition and agreement whenever I passed on a poem Auntie Anne's family thought should be included. Sometimes we had a bit of tussle at our house when one of the children wasn't finished making her list, but a sibling had gotten distracted while hunting up a title and taken the very book of poetry her sibling wanted over to a cozy spot to curl up with it and just read poetry for fun. Creating our poetry anthology remains one of my fondest of many fond memories over our years of work on AO. What we have here is the result "AmblesideOnline Advisory's poetry selections for year one students," but it is more than that. This is a lovingly curated anthology of the childhood favourites of the Advisory, and Advisory children. These are not just poems, they are friends who touched our hearts, made us smile, helped us see the world in a new way, helped us give words to what we were already seeing. They are part of our family's traditions (my oldest grandson quoted The Little Turtle for me when he was 3. It had been his mother's favourite at about the same age), and part of our family language as well- snatches of poems, a line here, a line there, come out when we need that 'word fitly spoken.' We fondly, dearly, hope and believe your own children will find many friends here to love and hold dear, to reminisce over when they are grown. From our family's hearts to yours, may you have as much joy in sharing these poems with your children as we have in sharing them with you. Other features: Active TOC! Foreword with information on using the selections. Each poem given its own page.

Every six minutes a handful of parish members (often no more than a half dozen) bully, intimidate, threaten and blackmail successful pastors into resigning their ministries. The wounds they inflict on these pastors and their families remain with them for the balance of their lives. Congregational leaders that stand with the pastors are often attacked and left wounded from the same trauma. This is a book of healing. It is written for senior pastors, music ministers, lay professionals and lay leaders that are suffering with the wounds of a sheep attack. The author examines the depth of the pain that the antagonists are able to inflict. He brings forth the damaging effects of Chronic Stress, Emotional Memories, Burnout and Post Traumatic Stress Injury. Based on the experiences of over 200 clergy of virtually every branch of Christianity and Jewish Rabbis he describes the methods they have utilized to heal and move forward with their lives. This is the third book in the series on "sheep attacks" by The Reverend Doctor Dennis Maynard.
The others are: "When Sheep Attack" and "Preventing A Sheep Attack."
Is Pinsedo a corporate cult? Are they using mind control on their female staff to make them obedient and happy good girls? Fifteen young women "promoted" overseas have disappeared, never to be seen or heard from again. Terry, a private investigator, will stop at nothing to expose them, but when Sunny, his secretary turned partner, is called away on business, she has the devilish idea of sending him in undercover . . . as the "Perfect Pinsedo Girl".
Can Terry resist the Pinsedo brainwashing long enough to solve the case? Can Sunny handle the unexpected thrill of watching her macho boss / boyfriend succumb to utter femininity? This novel contains mind-control, hypnosis, physical and mental feminization, sex with some light science fiction elements. It is just over 69,000 words.
